The Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, is an ambitious initiative by the Government of India aimed at promoting renewable energy and providing free electricity to households & Group Housing Societies (GHS) and Resident Welfare Associations (RWA) for subsidies to install rooftop solar systems for common facilities, through the installation of rooftop solar panels.

Subsidized Solar Installations: Households opting for rooftop solar installations receive substantial subsidies: The subsidy is capped at 3 kW capacity, translating to financial support of ₹30,000 for a 1 kW system, ₹60,000 for 2 kW, and ₹78,000 for 3 kW systems or higher.₹18,000 per kilowatt (kW) for shared facilities, including EV charging stations, up to a capacity of 500 kW.
